Home Ministry Refutes Rumour Of Emergency

Kathmandu, Oct. 20: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) Monday clarified that the government was not imposing a state of emergency and curfew across the country as reported in social media.

News spread through different social media on Monday was wrong and misleading, the ministry said.
Joint Secretary and spokesperson at the Ministry Chakra Bahadur Budha said the government has no plan to impose emergency and curfew for the control and prevention of COVID-19 infection or for any other reason.

Spokesperson Budha said that serious attention of the Ministry was drawn to the misleading information spread through social media, mobile and other electronic media in the morning, adding that necessary investigation into the incident was going on.

Stating that the government has no plans to impose a state of emergency and curfew in the eve of the festival, the spokesman said, “The misleading information on social media is baseless and unfounded. We urge everyone not to believe such information.”The Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur District Administration Offices had also clarified the issue a few weeks ago.
