Lamachaur Cup Bhalbal: Police champion, Sanju declared best
Nepal Police Club became the men’s champion in Lamachaur Cup volleyball competition. Police won the title after defeating Setma Epifly 3-2 in a thrilling final on Saturday.
Nav Adarsh Community Development Society had organized Lamachaur Cup National Volleyball Championship on the occasion of its annual function and Haritalika Teej. Friday’s final game was played on Saturday following a 1–1 tie due to bad lighting (light protest).
Police, including last year’s runner-up, won the first set comfortably 25–16 but lost the second set 21–25. In the third set again, Farkadai Police won 25-19. However, in the fourth set of the APIF game, Farkadayan won 25–22 and the game was tied at 2–2. It was very exciting including the last set. There was a lot of struggle both times but ultimately the result was in favor of the police. Police won the final set 16–14 and won the title. Along with the title, the police have recovered Rs 1 lakh 50 thousand in cash. Runner-up Affilay won Rs 1 lakh 111.
Sanjuvikram Shah of Nepal Police Club was declared the best player in the competition. Police’s Balram Gurung was declared the best setter. Bhim Gaha of police was declared the best defender. Successful police officer won the title of excellent policeman. Hemant Mall of APIF was declared the best server. Vijay Thapa of APF was declared the best spiker. Police officer Chandra Kuwar was declared an excellent trainer. All those who excelled in academics received a trophy and medal along with Rs 5,000 each.
Bhadau 19 gate dekhi chaleko competition won the title for the women’s side and the epithet was won by the winners. In the final match held on Friday, Chumeko was crowned champion after defeating Setama New Diamondlai 3–1. Epifell lost the first set 25–23, won the second set 25–23, lost the third set 13–25 and won the title by defeating Epifell in the fourth set 25–10. Four teams each from both men and women participated in the competition.
